So sad: Flood sweeps away final year student


A final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA in Ondo State was on Monday swept away by flood.

Reports stated that the sad incident happened at her residence in Ibaka area of the university environment during heavy rainfall.

The 400 level student simply known as Doyin was reportedly swept away to an unknown destination by the heavy flood from a canal.

Confirming the incident, the university management in a statement by the Acting Registrar, Opeolu Akinfemiwa noted that all lectures and tests were suspended after incident.

“The University is leaving no stone unturned in the quest to find the missing student. Divers and other volunteers have been sought to search the path of the river in a bid to find the missing under graduate.”

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Akungba Shakiru Ajibola, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shakuru Ajibola also confirmed the incident, saying that divers were still looking for the undergraduate in the neighbouring rivers.
