A 46-year-old man has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos Command for allegedly abusing his 14-year-old daughter for more than three years in Lagos.
The suspect, Chinedu Ifeleka said to be a father of three was arrested on September 6 at Mapowu Street, Ojo area of the state.
Speaking about the arrest to newsmen, the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the corps, Mrs Kehinde Bada-Okoli said that the suspect started abusing his daughter in 2016 when she was 11 years old.
“The incident happened to the daughter twice while she was 11 years old. The daughter said she reported to her mother but no action was taken”, adding that the victim also confirmed that she was abused again on August 9.
“The young girl said her father woke her up at about 2:25 am to start touching her inappropriately after which he had carnal knowledge of her,” she added.
NSCDC PRO said that “the victim’s mother, Mrs Florence Ifeleka, in her statement noted that she was scared to report the incident because her husband threatened to deal with her ruthlessly if she did.”
Adding that Ifeleka confessed to the crime, but claimed he had carnal knowledge of his daughter once, “I am appealing to my daughter to forgive me, because what I did to her was under the influence of alcohol.”
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Cyprian Otoibhi told newsmen that, “he will face the full wrath of the law as he would be handed over to the appropriate agency for further investigation and prosecution.
“This is a heinous crime and all perpetrators of such, when caught will be made to pay dearly for it.”
