British Airways on Monday announced that it has been forced to cancel more than 1,500 flights from UK airports due to a strike by pilots.
According to reports, British Airways pilots are on strike over wages and allowances dispute, described to be the biggest strike in the airline’s 100-year history.
The 48-hour strike was announced by the British Airlines Pilot Association (BALPA), stating that the pilots would be on strike on September 9 and 10.
In a statement Monday, the airline said it had “no way of predicting how many (pilots) would come to work or which aircraft they are qualified to fly.”
Adding that as a result, it had “no option but to cancel nearly 100%” of its flights.
