A middle-aged woman has been arrested for allegedly posing as an official from the Lagos State Governor’s Office at the Italian Embassy in a bid to secure visas for some people.
A statement issued by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, noted that the suspect who was arrested over the weekend, sent an e-mail to the Embassy of Italy in Lagos.
She was arrested after the embassy wrote to the Governor’s Office to authenticate the claims, which were later found to be false.
It was added that the woman (name withheld) denied the allegation claiming that her email was hacked by unknown person.
Lagos State Governor’s office has alerted the public to be weary of people who may fraudulently use the office to commit criminal act.
