Helicopter Crash-Lands On Top Of Building


A helicopter crash-landed on the roof of a 54-story office building in Midtown Manhattan Monday, sparking a fire and killing the pilot on board, says authorities.

The incident reportedly happened at the AXA Equitable Center on Seventh Avenue and West 51st Street.

Speaking about the incident to News 4, a senior official said the pilot, Tim McCormack had just dropped off a passenger at the East 34th Steet heliport, and may have been making his way back to the chopper’s base in Linden, New Jersey, when the crash occurred.

A New York City Police Department also confirmed to CBS News that the helicopter crash-landed on the roof but did not go into the building, adding that the weather was foggy and rainy at the time.
