The Federal High Court in Ikoyi on Thursday granted Nigerian Musician Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley bail in the sum of two million naira and two sureties after 20 days in custody.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the fast-rising singer on Friday, May 10 in relation to alleged advance fee scam and related cyber crimes.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo, who presided over the bail hearing listened to the arguments of the defence and prosecution counsel before the bail was granted.
Premium Times reports that at the resumed bail application, the singer’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, apologised for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20 due to heavy down pour.
Ojo urged the court to accept the bail application based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1).
The trial was adjourned till October 22, 23 and 24.
