A 25-year-old man, has been arrested by the Police in Ogun State for allegedly killing one Olakitan Balogun.
Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Wednesday noted that the suspect was arrested on Sunday at about 1:45 after a distress call by residents of Doland Estate to the police that a man had murdered his wife’s concubine.
The statement said the arrest was made following a distress call by residents of Doland Estate to the Divisional Police Officer of Ajuwon Division that a man had murdered his wife’s concubine inside his house.
“On the receipt of the distress call, the DPO, Afolabi Kazeem, led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, he explained that he came to his house at about 12: 30am on the fateful day and met the deceased right inside the house with his wife.
“This infuriated him and he started beating the man and hit his head against the wall leading to the death of the victim.”
In her statements, the wife denied having any illicit relationship with the deceased.
Oyeyemi said that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary for post mortem examination .
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had already ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and prosecution of the case.
